Plyometric Boxes

Are Steel plyometric boxes better or Wood plyometric boxes? Having discussed this on the forums and with other crossfitters, it is a matter of personal preference.  Some people say that the forgiveness of missing a jump and scraping your knee on metal plyometric boxes isn’t as good as wooden plyometric boxes.  They both seem pretty durable, with the steel ones taking a small edge perhaps.  But the wooden plyometric boxes have an option of adding 4 inches on the bottom to go from 20″ (women’s Rx height) to 24″ (men’s Rx height).  So with all this in mind, take a look at what we recommend and choose what is best for you or your box.

Wooden Plyometric Boxes

One cool thing we like about the new Muscle Driver USA 2-in-1 plyometric box (20 inch and 24 inch)  is that it is two boxes in one!  Two piece construction allows you to change the box from 20″ inches (womens Rx height) to 24″ (mens Rx height) on the fly.  We find this to be extremely valuable to boxes or garages because of its convenience.  If you own a box, you have a mixture of clients coming in every time and you can adjust the boxes as necessary to match the male/female ratio.

The boxes with or without the riser are extremely sturdy and made from 3/4 inch plywood. Exterior of box is sanded completely to avoid any sharp edges. Each box is sprayed with two coats of poly to protect the exterior wood. Ships fully assembled.
